PE
Polyethylene
PE is one of the most common plastics and comes in several variants: PE-HD, PE-500, PE-1000 (UHMW) and PE Foam. The material has low friction, good chemical resistance and does not absorb water. PE-1000 (UHMW) has the best abrasion resistance among all plastics and is used in conveyors, guides and wear strips. PE-HD is available in a food-grade variant and is the standard material for cutting boards and work surfaces in large kitchens. All PE variants are easy to process and can be welded with hot air.
Properties
Naturally slippery surface, suitable for conveyors
Resistant to most acids, bases and solvents
PE-1000 (UHMW) has exceptional abrasion resistance
Does not absorb water, suitable for humid environments
PE-HD and PE-1000 are available in FDA-approved variants
Easy to machine, turn, mill, drill and weld
