Water and Sewage
Plastics for water and sewage technology, water treatment and sewage management
Plastics are the standard material in water and sewage technology due to corrosion resistance, long lifespan and easy installation. PlastShop delivers semi-finished products to water and sewage contractors, water treatment plants and municipal facilities. Our materials withstand the chemicals used in water treatment and sewage management, and have an expected lifespan of 50 years or more.
Requirements and Challenges
- Corrosion resistance in contact with water, sewage and chemicals
- Long lifespan (50+ years) with minimal maintenance
- Weldability for leak-tight joints
- Chemical resistance to chlorine, ozone and precipitation chemicals
- Drinking water approval according to relevant standards
Recommended Materials
Pipes, tanks and containers. Weldable, drinking water approved
Tanks, pipes and valves. Good chemical resistance
Pipes and profiles. Flame retardant, cost-effective
Chemical resistant for aggressive process fluids
Seals and packings in pumps and valves
Large tanks and containers with high strength
Common Applications
Water Treatment Plants
PP and PE for sedimentation basins, flotation plants and chemical dosing.
Sewage Management
PE and PP for sewage pipes, pumping stations and sludge handling.
Drinking Water Supply
PE-100 for drinking water pipes. Drinking water approved with long lifespan.
Chemical Dosing
PVDF and PP for dosing of chlorine, ozone and precipitation chemicals.
Why Choose Plastics
Plastics do not corrode in contact with water, sewage or chemicals. This gives an expected lifespan of 50 years or more, compared to 15 to 25 years for metal pipes. Plastics are also easier to install, require simpler tools and can be welded to leak-tight joints. The total cost over the lifespan is often lower for plastics than for metal.
